Mangez. . .

My friend Kent and his lovely wife Oanh are first class gourmands-- and they have started a blog dedicated to my and their favorite subject, eating. I particularly liked their recent entry on Pho-- which made me hungry at 9AM. Their entry on proper BBQ in Boston (What about that place in next to Jae's in Sommerville? You know, the one with the plastic Elvis head in the window?) reminded me of the melt-in-your-mouth-good slow barbecued pork I once had outside the State Penitentiary near Atlanta (with what seemed like half the police officers in the county). But I digress.

It's still a new blog but Kent is clever writer with a nearly infinite capacity for food, so I'm sure good things are in store.

I consider Kent to be one of my oldest and best comrade in the eating troughs. Kent and I used to spend many a happy hour obsessing over exactly how each dimsum dish should be served, and what to ask for off menu in Chinatown in Boston. And he really and trully gets my Real Ramen obsession (he didn't laugh when I told him I had a ramen guide to Tokyo). For Kent and Oanh's wedding, I sent them cookware. I keep hoping that they plan to come on an eating tour of Tokyo, in which plan to sacrifice myself and volunteer to be their gastro guide.

And on a related note, after this holiday season's excess, I'm back to bloody Weight Watchers. Yeah, I know. Buzzkill.
